Sure, you are not actually going to get Dreamscene for your PC but it doesn’t matter if you’re going to get the same effect right? This is exactly what VLC Player can do for you. You might or might not have heard of this program but it is a free video player that eliminates the need to download many different codecs as it already recognizes a large number of them. VLC has a built-in feature that allows you to play videos as your wallpaper.
Dreamscene is only available for Windows Vista Ultimate users, but with this method, it can be made available for anyone with a copy of Windows or MacOS X Tiger. Read More»

You’ve found an irresistible video on YouTube that you just have to show to your friends, so you want to download it to your Apple iPod. You search in vain for the Download to iPod button that should be there on the YouTube page but isn’t. YouTube doesn’t make it easy; you’re going to have to do it yourself.
Before getting started, let’s understand the problem, which has two basic aspects. First, YouTube doesn’t want you to download its videos—and it says so in its help files. Downloading the files isn’t illegal, but since YouTube’s business model is based on page views, the company has been known to modify its tagging and to use other methods to prevent downloads. Okay, so Apple PCs are still a lot safer than Windows PCs, but the next time an Apple owner smugly reminds you of the fact, just ask him or her whether they’ve installed the security update issued in April 19th. This fixes no less than 25 security flaws in OS X and it includes three patches for ‘Zero Day’ bugs, and vulnerabilities that would allow hackers to gain access to data. So far this year Apple has issued at least one security update each month and whilst the level of threat and number of attacks are nowhere near the level PC owners have to put up with, it does appear that Apple owners may no longer be as safe as they once used to be. 1. Install the latest version of iTunes. Download iTunes
2. Connect your iPod to your computer.
3. To update your iPod on a PC the iPod must be formated for a PC.
4. Open iTunes.
5. Itunes will detect the latest version available and will prompt you to install it.

Windows Vista more than doubled its market share in March from the prior month, while the share of computers running Mac OS X fell for the first time in nine months, according to statistics released today by market research firm Net Applications.
By the end of March, Vista was used by 2.04% of computers connected to the Internet, according to the Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based company. That’s up from 0.93% of PCs in February.
Now ranked the fifth-most popular operating system by Net Applications, Vista jumped ahead of Windows 98, which had a 1.36% share. Vista still trailed its seven-year-old ancestor, Windows 2000, which had 4.71% share in March. Read More»

iPod users will be relieved to know that Microsoft has fixed a glitch in Windows Vista that had the potential to mess up their players data. It concerns the Vista Safely Remove Hardware function, used to eject the player from the system and although the patch, which was released a few days ago, though the advice from Apple is to continue using the iTunes eject function. CNET News also reports a number of other updates to do with hooking devices up to Vista PCs, including one that could result in a loss of images when transferring image files from a Canon EOS-1D

Microsoft has started private testing of the next version of Office for the Macintosh, which is due out in the second half of the year. Office 2008 for Mac, as the product is known, helps bring the desktop suite back into compatibility with two key technologies.
First, the product is the first version of Office that runs natively on both Intel- and Power PC-based Macs. The new software also adds support for the XML file formats that Microsoft added to the Windows version of Office–Office 2007, which hit store shelves in January. Read More»

Ever since Steve Jobs’ keynote at the Macworld Expo in January, we’ve known that the iPhone is being released sometime in June. But we haven’t known exactly when.
Now Cingular is confirming that the release date will be June 11. A customer service manager at Cingular (we called 800-947-5096 and were transferred to sales) gave us that date late Thursday, but, alas, said he didn’t have any additional information beyond that.
