<description>A few words of warning are in order. All components of a computer are rated to operate at a specific maximim speed. Forcing a system to operate at a higher speed can have serious consequences. System instability, shortened CPU life, and data corruption are all possible. It is very difficult to determine if a specific degree of overclocking is safe as problems may occur only under specific conditions. Problems may be occuring without your knowledge.

If your computer is used only for gaming then overclocking may be justified. If you use your system for important work then the risks are too great. Experienced and responsible system administrators would never overclock a server. We can take a lesson from them.
