Defrag Windows Vista Faster
Instead of using the standard Windows Vista Defrag Tool, use the combination of Contig and PowerDefragmenter to make the process ten times faster.
Steps:
1. Download Contig here.
2. Download PowerDefragmenter here.
3. Save both files in the same directory.
4. Run PowerDefragmenter and click next.
5. Choose options appropriate for you:
Defragment File(s): Defrags up to 4 files
Defragment Folder(s): Defrags up to 4 folders
Defragment Disk: Defrag disk
PowerMode(TM) Disk Defragmentation: Defrags two consecutive defragmentations while keeping the time the same.
6. This pops up Windows Disk Defragmenter…
7. That’s it!
Note: Contig works on OS version NT and above which means this may work for Windows 2000.

I have sampled the free defraggers like contig+powerD, auslogics disk defrag etc, and yes, they have the advantage of being free, but none of them really match up to the speed and performance of a fullblown defragger like Diskeeper.
Always, diskeeper defrags faster and is easier to configure for defragging the MFT, for boot-defrag and for multiple drives. The great automatic defrag mode is also not something found in the freeware defraggers. For users with a lot of time on their hands, it may not matter, and everyone has their own preference of software. But, I run defrags on my video editing rig quite frequently because I need to, and diskeeper has been the best tool in keeping my drives defragged easily and in the shortest amount of time.
