I tried several firewall programs (“iolo“ is also a very good choice), and then I stumbled upon the Sphinx software (the better choice). I tried the Sphinx software and my system was immediately protected. It literally "locked" my system from the inside and outside. It is easy to use. Use the Sphinx software with Windows Firewall with Advance Security for excellent results. According to the Sphinx website, the Vista FW Control program is free, and the XP FW Control program is $19.95 as of this posting. I agree with Robo (above). You can get a version for XP as well. Using both Vista Firewall and Vista firewall control is the best PC Software Firewall protection I have ever had.
