GMail’s space for custom email account
We all know that Google has been quite generous in giving space when it comes to GMail and right now it’s sitting at over 6 Gb and is consistently increasing. On the other hand Google Apps service is limited to 6 Gb of space (the free account, you can always purchase more space if you want to). For me, 6 Gb of space is more than enough but still, I’ve seen many people crib for limited amount of space!
Well here are some of the tips which you can certainly use in order to ensure that you don’t run out of space and you can rather use GMail’s space in case you are running short of space in your Google Apps account.
Here is what you can do :
1. Go to settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP (of your Google apps account).
2. Select Forward a copy of incoming message to XXXXXXXX email address.
3. Put your GMail account email address over there and save the changes.
4. Login to your GMail account and create a filter where in the To : field you should put your Google Apps account and click next.
5. Select the option of applying the label and archive the email too.
6. That’s it!
Just in case you want to ensure that the other person should receive the email from same Google Apps account and not from GMail account as he’s your business contact and you don’t want to display your personal GMail account to them. Well, you can do the following steps :
7. Go to setting -> Accounts
8. Add your google apps account there.
9. That’s it!
Now when ever you’ll get an email to Google Apps account, it will come directly to your GMail account and that too in a label and it will give you the feeling as if you are checking the email in a normal way as then that label will act as a folder.
