The best way to protect your PC is like in the picture below but because this won’t work below are some usefull steps.

I thought of all of you new in computers or more experienced that search for the best way to keep fit your computer and i wrote a How To. I hope it helps because thats what BeepMe is all about.

1. Windows Update
One important thing that many people ignore is the Microsoft Windows Update. Through this utility Windows updates itself with the latest virus, spyware and firewall fixes therefore it would be a really bad choice to TURN IT OFF. Keep it ON at all times.

2. Windows Firewall
If you are not using another firewall, DO NOT turn off the Windows Firewall, unless you want to turn it off to make some special connections or play a game that isn’t allowed by the firewall, but after your finished turn it back on.
The Windows Firewall protects your computer from hackers, windows security issues and some spyware programs.

My personal opinion if you want a good protection is to disable your Windows Firewall like it’s shown and install the FREE Zone Alarm Firewall from Here

3. Antivirus
A good antivirus is vital for your computer’s happiness. There are lots of solution on the market but my personal favorites is McAfee VirusScan Plus, it detects almost everything and kills viruses without mersy. Download it From Here for 30 Days Trial.

You can download free antiviruses like AVG but i assure you you’ll get infected big time, they lack power.

Note: At installation select only the Antivirus Utility, uncheck the firewall and the other features because you already have them from step 2 and 4 and they are better.

4. Anti – Spyware
Everywhere you go people try to attach spyware programs to pictures you download, files you take from the internet or third parties programs. Spyware once entered in your computer collects information about your passwords, usernames and credit card numbers and then sends it back via e-mail to hackers.

To prevent this from happening install and scan once a week with AdAware SE Personal Edition. You can download it from Here

5. HardDisk Defragmentation
If you didn’t know, everytime you delete a file and copy another one on your hard drive or when you move the files from partition to partition your harddisk becomes fragmented. This means that your PC will move slower and slower, programs will start with the speed of a snail and so on. The solution is anything but the Windows Defragmenter which kind of sucks.

I recommend you Diskeeper which has beaten all it’s competitors in big style. You can download a full 30 days trial from Here
