Make Firefox 4x Faster

Posted on June 14th, 2007 by Jason

At one time Opera was the fastest available web browser, that time has ended. By default firefox has its turbo features shut off due to an error it used to display with tables. Use the tutorial below to add 200shots of nos to firefox, and increase page speeds up to 4 times, making firefox the fastest browser.

1) Open Firefox and on the address bar write about:config and hit enter

[find the string]
network.http.pipelining
double click and change the value to true

[find the string]
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
double click and change the value to 34

[find the string]
browser.turbo.enabled
double click and change the value to true

now close and restart and see the new amazingly new speed of firefox…other info

. Double click on it, and a dialog box will pop up. Change the setting from 4 to 100.No need to save this file. Simply close and restart Firefox, and you should see an immediate 10% to 40% increase inweb page transfer speed, and faster opening of your tabbed windows! Enjoy!Note: in Firefox version 1.5, the command line is singlewindow.openintabsNext: we will increase the “pipeline” RAM ability for Firefox to accomodate more packet transfer. In the same config

add the string in under new>boolean.
then add in the string name (in this case browser.tubo.enabled)
    then set it to true.

    you’re done!

Type in about:config and filter the name network.http.pipelining. The default values are that network.http.pipelining is set to false and network.http.pipelining.maxrequests is set to 4.

If your settings are optimized network.http.pipelining should be set to true and network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to a value of 30, 32 or 34.

After that filter for browser.turbo.enabled. If no result comes up you don’t have that setting yet. Right-click the blank space and select New > Boolean from the menu. Name it browser.turbo.enabled and set it to true.

If you happen to make a mistake, e.g. create a String with the name browser.turbo.enabled, you can correct it by navigating to your Firefox profile folder and edit the prefs.js file by hand. Just search for the line and delete it. Close Firefox before you edit the file
