Recently I bought a new high-end computer and the Nvidia GeForce 7600GT Graphics Card which makes the best combination to run Vista. I installed Windows Vista on one of my drives leaving Windows XP unchanged and untouched on my default C drive. After playing around a little in Windows Vista it revealed on me that most of my hardware drivers and some softwares were not compatible with Vista so I decided to switch back.
Uninstall Vista on Dual Boot Machine
I formatted the drive containing Windows Vista but the problem is that whenever the computer restarted it showed the dual-boot option for Vista and for Windows XP even though I had deleted Windows Vista. After a little research I came over a solution that helps you fix the dual boot issue for a clean Vista uninstall. Read More»

We all know how annoying UAC can get, especially when you’ve just installed Windows Vista and you have a dozen of programs and security apps ready to install. A small program called TweakUAC gets rid of this annoyance by putting UAC into “quiet mode.” What it actually does is without turning off UAC,
it doesn’t display any prompts for administrators when attempting to do an administrative task. However, Read More»

So I installed Windows Vista. Not a big deal, right? After all, I’ve been doing it for almost 3 years. I started with Longhorn 4074 within days after it was available. I have always tried to be among the first to install new builds as they came out, test them, take screenies, etc. The idea was to test them, of course. Meaning not using it the way a “normal” person would, but putting it through the ringer.
I went through this routine right up until RC1. Then…issues. I had been hoping all along that each new build would show improved performance. This was not happening for me. I went out and bought a Radeon X800 XT specifically to take advantage of Aero, which was iffy on previous builds with my Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra. Now, the X800 XT was state-of-the-art when I got it, yet I ended up with a performance rating of 1.0. I was frustrated to no end. Read More»

I just installed Windows Vista Business on my laptop. I’d never advocate being an early adopter at the enterprise level, but I’m enough of a geek that I really wanted to get my hands on the latest and greatest. Having played with preview releases, I was certainly impressed by the polish, appearance, and apparent security.
Besides, since my experience with 64-bit Windows had been less than stellar and my wireless drivers had just crapped out on my latest Linux install (Fedora Core), I figured now was the time to move. We also have several new machines coming in that will be running XP, but are eligible for upgrade, so I wanted to start evaluating in our environment now. Read More»

Those guys at ExtremeTech continue to pump out some really good stuff lately, today’s link, is an article where they tested if Windows Vista would run his current crop of games. All he did was he installed Windows Vista, installed all the latest updates and drivers, and he changed the resolution and the background image, no special tweaking was applied, and luckily, video card vendors have been updating their Vista drivers recently, so this will be better than it would have been a few weeks ago.
Windows has been the best OS for gamers for years, and Vista takes that to the next level. That’s all well and good for games made with Vista in mind, but what about your existing game library? Last May, when Vista was at the Beta 2 milestone, I wrote a feature in which I installed around 15 games on the unfinished OS, describing how well each one worked. Now that Vista is “done” (inasmuch as any OS is ever actually finished), it’s time to do it again. This time, I’m going to use the final Vista release, a DX10 video card (not that it really matters with no DX10 games), and all the drivers available upon Vista’s launch. I’ll also take a look at a lot more games, around 25.
