If you expect Windows Vista’s service packs to be as substantial as XP’s were, then you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. They mention at the end of the article that a prolonged ban could have a significant impact on Microsoft’s bottom line, believe me, this happens every time a new operating system comes out.
We have blocked the auto upgrades to IE7 until software compatibilities roll out, and no one can just upgrade their OS on their own, who would be crazy enough to allow that to start with? Most users have trouble remembering which password it is asking for at startup, they think some of the weirdest things, there is no way I would allow anyone to upgrade anything without someone from IT at least helping, if not doing it for them.
