This message as shown in the image above appears every time the user logged in , with a timer of some seconds before the Later button got enabled, all this delayed the entire logon process.

It appears that pirated technologies are available even in retail stores, which makes the fight against such almost impossible. According to , there were cases when users bought , but when trying to install it, the Advantage technology warned them that the was not . And this happened when Amanda Barr, from Midland, Ontario, bought the from a local retail store.

WGA Phones Home When Canceled

Hacks at German wire revealed that ’s updated Advantage Notification phones home when the is aborted. The user is not notified of the communication, but claims it is useful for it to know when an is cancelled.

Using network sniffer the hacks say they also detected the logging those not signing up to update. It says data transmitted may contain enough information to identify individual computers. told it collected the data to improve the quality of the for users. (more…)
