Download Windows 7 SP1 and fix “Installation Was not Successful” Error
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 have just released a few days ago. You can install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 via automatic updates and through its downlaod from here: Download Windows 7 Service Pack 1 from Microsoft. But some users get “Installation was not successful” error while installing Windows 7 SP1, now we will fix it in this article.
There are two main reasons you may get this error:
1. An incompatibility in the Windows 7 Service store, which is a feature required to install the sevice packs.
2.A background application such as antivirus, antispyware or firewall may be interfering with the installation of service pack.
Okay how can we fix “Installation Was not Successful” error while installing Windows SP1 ?
My first suggestion is try to close all background applications from system tray (include antiviruses). Try to run “System Update Readiness Tool”, this tool fixes problems which can prevent Windows updates and installation of service packs.
You can download this tool from here: Download System Update Readiness Tool. Tool runs automatically after installation then try to install SP1 again.
