Vista Codec Package 4.3.8 and x64 Components 1.1.8 Free Download

Vista Codec Package for Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 freeware has been updated to version 4.3.8 and available for free download. Beside, Vista Codec x64 Components has also been updated to version 1.1.8.

Note: If you just want to play DVD, there is no need for any additional package in all editions of Windows Vista (except ‘N’ edition). DVD will play well in Windows Media Player (WMP) or Media Player Classic (MPC) in Windows Vista with Windows Aero glass effects enabled.

Vista Codec Package is a all-in-one (AIO) setup for all necessary codecs to play DVD and almost any types and formats of video, movie or music files in Windows operating system with any media player and support streaming video in popular web browser. With the codec pack installed, users no longer need to search for individual codec or install third party application to have the codec installed, such as Quicktime mov, XviD, DivX, 3gp, RealMedia rm, AAC, AC3 and etc.

Meanwhile, Vista Codec x64 Components is a codecpack for users using 64-bit Windows Media Player 11 in Windows Vista 64-bit edition. There is less codecs that are supported in 64-bit environment though.

Important: Old version MUST be uninstalled and uninstall all other codecs BEFORE installing this comprehensive package. When running the installer, run it with elevated privileges. (right click and choose “Run as Administrator”)
