Vista: Getting Adobe Flash Player to Work
Here’s the scenario: you download the latest and greatest version of the Adobe Flash Player. After it finishes installing, you go to a site featuring Flash content and are greeted with a message notifying you that you need to install Flash Player, but didn’t you just do that? To properly update your Flash Player, you need to run the installation as Administrator. Follow these steps to properly install Adobe Flash Player:
For Vista (32 bit):
1. Open Computer.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\.
3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
4. Open the Flash directory.
5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.
6. Select Run as Administrator.
7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.
8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.
For Vista (64 bit):
1. Open Computer.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.
3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
4. Open the Flash directory.
5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.
6. Select Run as Administrator.
7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.
8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.
Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly

The fact that their needs to be a blog post to install Flash seems like a problem to me. I always thought as time goes on computers were supposed to get easier to use. I guess not.

P.S. Also, earlier yesterday, I was able to view videos on the web (I don’t know if that was because I already had a flash player [somewhere it said either Vista or AOL, which my satellitte company allowed me to keep for free, came with one], or because one of the flash players I’d been trying to install seemingly without success had actually worked), and later in the day, I suddenly was not.
I thought maybe it could have been the weather, because it was very windy which sometimes affects my satellite connection, and some regular Internet pages were coming up blank and malfunctioning as well. However, those are all working fine now and still, flash player is a no-go.
Could I have accidentally done something that messed up or deleted the flash player or whatever was allowing me to view videos?
And if so, what could it be? lol. @______@
Please help. and please not in computerese. I am technologically-challenged and need explanations in simple English.
I would appreciate any help or advice anybody could give me.
Thanks.
