Windows Vista Hack: Run Vista legally for a year without activation

Does Software Activation helps stop piracy, not really. The latest and perhaps the biggest example is Windows Vista.

Brian Livingston, editorial director of Windows Secrets Newsletter, revealed a flaw in Windows Vista through which any user can defer the activation date to almost an year. Microsoft might label this as a hack, Livingston says that it is the documented feature of Windows Vista named as SkipRearm

Since this method has now become public, Microsoft will definitely take actions to rectify it. This will perhaps reveal more facts about activation and some other way to fool the system.

Well a definitive way of stopping piracy is still unseen but this surely proves that product activation is not the answer to pirates.
